The authors have retracted this article.

Following publication, the authors proactively identified an error in Table 5, where burn rate data for the FPFLM and KCC models were inadvertently sourced from an incorrect table. During the subsequent post-publication review of these corrections, it became apparent that the methodological framework comparing a population-wide catastrophe model with NFIP claims data did not adequately account for the low insurance take-up rate and the resulting risk selection bias within the NFIP dataset. Because these methodological issues may affect some of the core conclusions of the paper, the authors are retracting the article to undertake a comprehensive revision. Dominick Dusseau, Zachary Zobel, and Christopher Schwalm agree to this retraction.
